Life Insurance Can Help Loved Ones Under Catastrophic Circumstances

Raising a Family

Life can be so uncertain, which is why life insurance is so important……One bright and sunny Sunday morning, I poured my usual cup of coffee and sat down at the dining room table to leisurely read the local Sunday paper. Sunday’s are the best day of the week for me. My favorite way to start the day is reading the paper and browsing the ads….…. chores are done, grocery shopping  done, the weekend errands  are out to the way and the kids aren’t up yet….now I can relax and enjoy the moment. As I was reaching for my cup of coffee my head virtually exploded, the pain was so intense. Having a long history with migraines, I assumed this was just a “mother” of one. But that wasn’t the case at all. After struggling for close to 30 hours with over the counter remedies, the headache was still there with just as much force. I had to let go and realized I couldn’t fight this one on my own.

After ensuring the kids were taken care of, off to the ER I went, hoping to get some stronger medication and relief…..only to learn, I had a deep brain aneurysm that had actually burst and the only course of action was emergency brain surgery. Boy my reality became so surreal.

Thankfully, I had a wonderful support system. My husband, brother and sister-in-law made sure I had the best surgeon to deal with a very dangerous surgery that carried a very low probability of success.  I will say, admitting I needed help was tough, but it would have been harder if we hadn’t had a great nanny and yes, life insurance. I knew my family was protected in the here and now as well as whatever the future might hold…. If I didn’t make it, life insurance would have been there to help cover the day-to-day to expenses, like having a nanny. Obviously, my story had a happy ending; I am alive, healthy and well, a decade later living a happy and productive life. I am passionate about life insurance for this very reason.

The moral of the story …. You just never know what life has in store and when catastrophe might hit. Be prepared. Life insurance is an important part of family planning. We’re here for you and we want to help.
