Don’t Forget - September is Life Insurance Awareness Month

Life Insurance

Did you know September is also life insurance awareness month? Once again Labor Day has come and gone. Each year it seems to go by faster and faster. Summer is not over but for many people Labor Day signals the end of summer. I’m an optimist and I think there is plenty of great summer weather left, so for me it’s not the end. With the return to school and the feeling of getting back from vacations many of us are probably focusing on a to-do-list of some sort. Does your list have life insurance on it?

If you already have a life insurance policy this is a great time to dig out your policy, review it and make sure your coverage still applies to your situation. Did you take out a policy 5 or 10 years ago based on your needs then? Have your needs changed? They probably have. If you do not have any life insurance but have been procrastinating about shopping for life insurance quotes now is the time to make sure you take action.

Many people I speak with on a daily basis are calling for life insurance quotes because as I mentioned in the previous paragraph, they just never got around to it. For many people, one of the biggest reasons they finally started getting serious about life insurance was due to someone close to them passing away suddenly. Unfortunately what I hear many times is that the person did not have any life insurance at all. So, where does the money come from to take care of everything when a person passes away and their income goes away as well? It comes from the family members and close friends who have to pool their money and resources to take care of what is needed. Death is not a fun subject to talk about or write about. It’s reality and you need to think about what your spouse, family members and any others who rely on you financially would do if you suddenly passed away with no life insurance.
