Fitness and Staying Motivated - How It Relates To Term Life Insurance

Life Insurance

When shopping for term life insurance people often ask me why there are so many health related questions. Depending on how much term life insurance coverage you are applying for and the life insurance company you are applying with, there can be many different applications and requirements. Often these requirements pertain to information about your current health, medications and medical records if needed. Did you know your health situation can greatly affect your term life insurance premiums?

If you have existing term life insurance or are just starting to shop for life insurance always keep in mind the importance of good health. Health plays a big part in term life insurance that requires a health exam and review of medical history. As we become older our health plays an even bigger role in our lives.

Here are some ways I look at staying fit: Schedule time to work out or walk, jog or run. It’s one thing to tell myself that I will exercise this week. If I just tell myself that, as I‘ve done in the past, chances are I may find other things to do with my time and then say I’ll exercise tomorrow or the next day. What happens when you have an important appointment such as the doctor or dentist? You write it in on your calendar, maybe get up earlier than usual and schedule your day to accommodate the appointment. I do the same thing with exercise because I see it as an important part of my life. I write it on a calendar, it’s like making an appointment with myself. When I have the visual aspect of exercise it makes me commit to it. The other thing scheduling does is it allows you to plan free time where you can focus on other areas of your life or your to-do list.

Remember, a short amount of exercise is better than none. Think of it this way, even if you get a half hour of some form of exercise in each day, it’s better than none at all. You could also try every other day. The key is to develop some form of consistency, start small and build from there. The New Year is right around the corner. Now is the perfect time to prepare yourself for implementing a new fitness program.
