Life Insurance and Quality Time - More Important than Television

Life Insurance premiums may seem like a burden to some, just another bill to add to the heaping list we find ourselves paying over and over again. Unlike many other bills however, life insurance IS a necessity to have, not simply something we want.

A perfect example of something we want but don’t necessarily need is television. Would we not be able to survive without it? With over 100+ channels of really nothing worth watching most of the time, we could spend that time with our spouse, or our children and grandchildren who are really deserving of our time and enjoyment.

Life insurance on the other hand, IS truly needed because the people in our lives that mean something to us need to survive when we are no longer around. Our value is in the investing of quality time with them while we are still here.

We often hear that we should be grateful for every day, or even every breath because it could be our last. No doubt there is sound wisdom in this. It’s not a morbid thought to ponder on how we want to be remembered. What legacy do we want to leave? Will we have made a significant difference in the lives of others through the time we invested with them and the financial protection we afforded them after having parted this world?

Life insurance IS the time we can no longer invest in the end. It is the “I love you even when I can’t see your face or hold your hand any longer,” the “I thought enough of you to make sure that your emotional struggles didn’t have to be doubled by your financial ones.” Next time your advisor says “buy term and invest the difference”, you should buy the term, and the difference you invest should be time with family and friends and not a TV...IT isn’t going to remember you when you are gone.
