7 Ways To Take Charge of Your Week and Enjoy Life More

There are so many times (more than we would like to admit) when we look at the week ahead with dread and despair. There may be significant challenges ahead or it could be that there are situations in our lives that put us in a bad mood, which is reflected in our attitude. Whatever the case, life will go on so we might as well make the best of it and smile.

 

Here are 7 ways to do just that.

 

1. Make a list of 3 things you are very grateful for

On a post note, or even a napkin, write down 3 things you are grateful for and keep that list with you and visible as much as possible. You can also set a reminder on your phone.

 

2. Find a charity or cause you can donate to

What causes do you support? A veterans group, homeless shelter or the local humane society? Whatever the case, take the time to donate ten or twenty dollars this week. It's amazing what a simple act of giving can do.

 

3. Smile more often

Smiling has numerous benefits and is one of the key components to a good day and week. Smiling reduces stress and anxiety, makes you more approachable, more attractive and paves the way to a great attitude.

 

4. Don't drink soda and drinks with high sugar content

You want to feel better physically? Drink more water! High sugar drinks pull you down and they are bad for your health. The health benefits associated with drinking more water are numerous, and it also has a large effect on the state of your emotions.

5. Give yourself some "me" time

Everyone needs time for themselves. It can be a simple as 10 minutes of reading a book, meditating or just being still. Being by yourself in the car during the commute and checking your Facebook doesn't count. Designate a specific time and purposefully dedicate it to yourself.

 

6. Try to get one of things you have "been meaning to get done" off your list

A great way to feel accomplished and victorious over your week is to get one of those tasks you have had on your list for months, done. This doesn't have to be a big deal. Something simple like cleaning out the planter by the entry way or taking the dog to that dog park that just opened up, maybe even cleaning out the crisper drawer in the fridge? (oh my!)

 

7. Wake up every day and prepare your attitude to be the best it can be

Life is so tough sometimes. It doesn't respect social status, financial status or where you live. We have all had our share of disappointments. Having challenges in life is to be expected, but how we handle those challenges is another issue. A good attitude is the key. Pick yourself up when you’re down, tell yourself it will be better and adjust your attitude.
