September is Life Insurance Awareness Month

Life Insurance

September is here once again, and it’s life insurance awareness month. Why does the life insurance industry get a whole month? Simply because life insurance is such a critical part of our lives when we lose a loved one that for those of us who don’t own it, it brings it to the forefront of our attention.

So why are there so many people without life insurance? Hard to believe, but according to “2014 Insurance Barometer Study, Life Happens and LIMRA”, less than half of consumers between the ages of 25 to 64 own it! More than 44% of that population feel like they need it, but never purchase it. One might ask: Why? Well for those without out, they seem to think that the cost of it is 3 times more than it actually is. That same population doesn’t own it because they’re unsure of how much to buy and what type they should own.

The reality is all of us, over time, will have many different life “events”. Getting a job, owning our first home, having children, getting married or even a divorce. These life events should make us want to contemplate owning life insurance in case there was ever a catastrophic loss in our lives, so that our families are financially protected.

Since it is life insurance awareness month, what a better time to roll up your sleeves and reach out to get the information you need. If you’re reading this, you’ve already taken the first step to figuring out those questions that have stopped you from owning it in the first place. Most of the population feels it’s easier to purchase life insurance directly with an agent face-to-face. But as this site would prove, there is enough information out there on the internet that can get you started to help you make an educated decision that makes sense for your life event.
