Life Insurance Becomes Personal When Tragedy Hits Close to Home

Raising a Family

Life insurance is usually in the back of our minds tucked away, until a story hits close to home. When we watch the news every night, we are removed from the closeness of loss. But when it’s someone you know, or even an acquaintance of someone you know, then it becomes “real”. That’s when thinking about life insurance comes to the front of our attention.

I was shocked recently when I had heard of a story from a colleague of a husband who recently lost his wife. How could anyone know that when they left for work that morning that they would come home to find their wife gone? She was simply stung by several wasps but had a severe allergic reaction. When I watched the news the next day, she had made the national headlines.

We don’t think about death or dying on a daily basis, but when you hear a story like this it shakes you a little and makes you think about your own family and how they would make out if you were gone. Life insurance has become so affordable and many potential applicants think the opposite. Term life insurance is the perfect vehicle to get the coverage you want at a price you can afford. Most people recognize the need for life insurance but shy away from even investigating the cost.

Maybe sometimes we just need to have it hit closer to home to make us take the plunge and investigate the actual cost. It’s the perfect time to pull life insurance thoughts out of the closet and put them on the table for discussion. In the end, once you investigate it, you’ll find that there is definitely a policy that will take care of your families specific needs, at a price that is affordable. You can have peace of mind when you hear a story that hits close to home.
