Life Insurance: 3 Top Reasons to Purchase
Life insurance should not be a product to be placed on a back-burner to consider at a later time when life is not so hectic. We shouldn’t kid ourselves! We aren’t given an expiration day when we’re born and we don’t know what will happen from day to day. Here are few helpful pointers for us to consider heavily, as time is running out:
1) Marriage- Our spouse shouldn’t have to suffer emotional AND financial loss because we didn’t think ahead. Life insurance is the difference between our spouse being able to live at the same standard of living when we are gone, rather than slipping into poverty. The pain and suffering and downright inconvenience of our significant other not being present is bad enough, add financial woes and misery on top of that and we have one terrifying scenario indeed.
2) Family- Our children shouldn’t have to be without a loving authority figure in addition to a financial provider. Children have many needs! There is no denying this fact. The lack of a vital role model in their lives can take a long-term emotion toll on them, don’t let anger take a toll as well if they’re not able to maintain a healthy lifestyle or fulfill the dreams they once had.
3) Legacy- How do we want to be remembered? I’ve seen it all before, fraternal societies or other charitable organizations coming to the aid of a family in need after the death of a financial provider in the household. As inspiring and well intentioned as it truly is, a spaghetti supper thrown to raise money on the family’s behalf doesn’t cut it! A few thousand at best doesn’t replace 15, 20, or 30 years of income replacement, or even pay for a half-way decent funeral. We could be the most charitable and kindhearted person in the world, doing much good for others while alive, but if we drop the ball and leave our loved ones in dire straits, we will be remembered more for the latter than anything else.
