4 Steps To Turning Around A Bad Day
Have you ever had a day where everything seems to go awry? It is hard to fathom what is causing it, but everything seems to just go wrong. As the day progresses things just seem to stack up and leave you feeling weathered and worn. You can turn this trend around and stop a bad day right in its tracks.
The first thing to remember is that no day will ever be perfect. Usually a bad day will spiral downhill because after these little things go wrong, our perception is more keen to them. So the first step to turning a bad day into a good one is to realize that things can and will go wrong. It is not the end of the world if they do.
The next step is to try and look on the bright side. Find the silver lining. So you are wearing your whole cup of coffee. Well, look to the bright side and praise the fact that you are not sporting third degree burns. You lucked out and your coffee was not that hot! There is usually a bright side to the little things that happen that seem to be all negative.
The next step is to create a stopping point by actually claiming to restart your day. This may seem strange but can help if you mentally give a restart to a bad day. You don't need to crawl back into bed literally. You just have to give yourself a mental restart and a chance for things to go in another direction.
The final step in turning around a bad day is to create a positive focus by doing something good. A bad day will seem to spiral and continue since we are focusing on the negative. Stop the negativity and do something, however trivial, that is positive. You can simply compliment someone, or try to be helpful to someone. You will feel more positive in general just by doing a kind act. You will then feel happier and less focused on the bad things that were comprising your previously bad day. Someone has to start a pay it forward moment. Let it be you!
Lastly remember that everyone has bad days. You have the ability to change the trend when it starts. As much as you can turn a frown upside down, you can also turn that bad day all around.
